American Man, 70, Dies After Jomtien Condo Fall

Police in Pattaya are investigating the death of a 70-year-old American man who died after a Jomtien condo fall early Sunday morning. Authorities suspect financial difficulties may have played a role.

Police Respond to Jomtien Condo Fall

At about 2:16 a.m. on October 12, 2025, Pol. Capt. Chainares Pengkaen from Pattaya City Police Station received a report of a fatal fall at a condominium in Jomtien, a well-known beachfront area in Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province.

Police and volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation found the body of a 70-year-old American man in the parking area of the building. The man was wearing a plaid shirt and knee-length pants. Officers confirmed he had suffered fatal injuries from the fall.

The area was cordoned off while police examined the scene and collected evidence.

Note Found in Deceased’s Room

Investigators discovered that the man lived alone on the fifth floor of the condo. No signs of disturbance were found in the room. A handwritten note was recovered, stating that he was “leaving because he had run out of funds.”

CCTV footage showed the man entering the elevator at 12:35 a.m., heading to the 11th floor while holding an unidentified object. Moments later, cameras captured him before the fatal Jomtien condo fall.

Witness Account and Ongoing Investigation

A condo employee said they heard a loud sound during their shift but assumed something had fallen from one of the units. The discovery was made after another resident reported seeing a motionless body in the parking area.

Police suspect financial stress may have been a factor. The body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital in Bangkok for a full autopsy. Authorities are coordinating with the U.S. Embassy in Thailand to notify the deceased’s relatives.
