British Expat Injured in Self-Harm Incident at Pattaya Hotel on Second Road

A British man is in hospital after a shocking self-harm incident inside a popular hotel on Pattaya’s Second Road, leaving staff and tourists stunned. The 59-year-old expat sustained severe injuries to his neck and wrists before being rushed for emergency treatment.

Emergency Response on Second Road Pattaya

On August 23, Pattaya police and rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation, a well-known volunteer emergency service in Chonburi province, responded to reports of a foreigner seriously harming himself.

When officers arrived, they found the British expat lying in a pool of blood with deep cuts across his neck and wrists. Hotel staff had attempted makeshift first aid before paramedics stabilised him at the scene. He was then taken to Pattaya Memorial Hospital for urgent treatment. His current medical condition has not been officially confirmed.

Witnesses Describe the Incident

According to witnesses, the man had previously stayed at the hotel but returned on the day of the incident for a drink at the bar. At some point, he allegedly smashed a beer bottle on the floor and used the broken glass to cut himself.

“The staff reacted immediately and called the rescue team,” one hotel employee told police. The dramatic scene unfolded in the hotel lobby, where shocked bystanders looked on as staff worked to calm guests while paramedics tried to stop the bleeding.

Police Investigation Underway

Pattaya police have confirmed that the man’s wounds were self-inflicted. Officers are now reviewing CCTV footage and taking witness statements to determine what may have triggered the violent outburst. Authorities said they are also contacting acquaintances of the victim to learn more about his state of mind.

“The cause of the attempted self-harm is still under investigation,” one officer said. “We are working to determine the circumstances surrounding this case.”
