British Man Arrested in Bangkok With 9kg of Crystal Meth

Bangkok, 1 October 2025 — A British man arrested in Bangkok has been charged with possession and intent to distribute after police discovered more than 9 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in his hotel room. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Wilson George Henry Allaway, remains in custody as authorities expand their investigation.

Arrest at Sukhumvit Hotel

The arrest occurred on 30 September 2025 after officers from Metropolitan Police Division 5 received a tip-off. The report said a foreign man was storing drugs in a hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 11, an area popular with expatriates and tourists.

Police coordinated with hotel staff to access the fourth-floor room. Mr. Allaway opened the door and an English-speaking officer explained the search. Inside, police found a pink suitcase containing 10 tea packets branded “GUANYIN.” Each was filled with crystal meth, weighing a total of 9,152 grams.

Suspect’s Statement and Charges

Mr. Allaway admitted the drugs were his. He was formally charged with possession of a Category 1 narcotic with intent to distribute. Under Thai law, Category 1 drugs include methamphetamine and heroin, carrying severe penalties such as life imprisonment or the death penalty.

During questioning, he told police that another British man known as “Snoopy” had given him the drugs. He said he was being paid 20,000 baht, about 550 US dollars, to store them before passing them to a buyer.

Ongoing Investigation

The case has been handed to Lumpini Police Station for further proceedings. Authorities are seeking to trace the source of the narcotics and identify the man known as “Snoopy.” Mr. Allaway remains in custody while the investigation continues.
