Pattaya, Thailand – June 15, 2025
A 22-year-old Chinese tourist tragically died after falling from the 21st floor of a luxury hotel in Pattaya on Saturday morning. Thai police have launched an investigation into the incident, which took place in the popular coastal city located in Chon Buri province, southeast of Bangkok.

According to initial reports, the tourist had earlier approached hotel staff to ask about a nearby convenience store. He then returned alone to his room on the 21st floor. Moments later, a security guard stationed at the front entrance heard a loud noise and discovered the man’s body on the ground outside the hotel.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Suchart Dutsadee received the emergency call and alerted Police Colonel Anek Sratongyu, the superintendent of Pattaya Police Station. Officers from the station, along with rescue volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation—a well-known local emergency response group—arrived quickly at the scene. Authorities cordoned off the area, and the victim’s body was covered out of respect and to shield the scene from public view.

A search of the tourist’s hotel room revealed no signs of forced entry, theft, or a struggle. Investigators confirmed that the man had been staying alone. Surveillance footage showed him riding the elevator to the ground floor to inquire about the convenience store before returning upstairs alone.

Police Sub-Lieutenant Sakayapap Chaidej documented the scene and reviewed the hotel’s security recordings as part of the preliminary investigation. Authorities are treating the case with caution, pending further forensic analysis.

The body has been transported to the Police General Hospital’s Forensic Institute in Bangkok for an autopsy to determine the official cause of death. Thai authorities have advised the tourist’s family to prepare the necessary documentation to claim the body for traditional funeral rites.

KhaoSod, a major Thai news outlet, has reported this case.

Travelers in Thailand are reminded to take safety precautions and seek assistance from local authorities or their embassy in case of emergency.
