A 38-year-old Chinese tourist has reported a theft to local authorities in Pattaya after discovering that 8,000 baht in cash had gone missing from his room following an encounter with a woman he met at a local bar.

The incident was reported at 11:06 PM on August 6, 2025, at the Pattaya City Police Station in Chonburi Province. The tourist, identified as “Mr. Chiang” (a pseudonym), filed the complaint through a translator with Police Sub-Lieutenant Kittipong Thalaengkan, Deputy Inspector of Investigation.
According to his statement, Mr. Chiang had visited a beer bar in Soi Pattaya Beach 6, a street well-known for its lively bars and nightlife venues. While at the bar, he met a woman with whom he had a pleasant conversation. The two decided to leave together and returned to his short-term accommodation near the beach.

Mr. Chiang stated that he fell asleep and awoke the next evening to find the woman gone. At first, he thought nothing of it, but upon checking his belongings, he discovered that 8,000 baht (approximately USD 225) had been stolen. Believing the woman had taken the money and left without notice, he decided to file a police report.
Police Sub-Lieutenant Kittipong conducted a thorough initial interview and forwarded the details to Police Colonel Anek Srathongyu, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police. An investigative team has since been assigned to collect evidence and attempt to locate the woman for questioning.
Authorities have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and aim to ensure a fair process for all parties involved. Tourists are reminded to exercise caution when engaging in nightlife activities and to secure their valuables, especially when inviting unfamiliar individuals into private accommodations.
