Disabled Australian Tourist Robbed in Pattaya Hotel by Woman He Met on Beach

Pattaya, Thailand – May 8, 2025 — A 65-year-old Australian tourist has filed a police report in Pattaya after claiming he was robbed by a Thai woman he had invited back to his hotel room in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Keith William Dobie arrived at Pattaya City Police Station around 1:10 a.m. to lodge a formal complaint with Police Sub-Lieutenant Akkarapong Saenputawong. Dobie reported that the woman allegedly made off with 350 Australian dollars and approximately 3,500 Thai baht, which had been left in the pocket of his trousers.

According to civil defence volunteers who were first on the scene, Dobie was found near Pattaya Beach, visibly distressed and shouting for help while seated in a wheelchair. He told bystanders that the woman had taken his money and fled the scene.

Volunteers reported spotting a woman matching the suspect’s description near the beach, but noted that she appeared to have changed clothes—likely in an attempt to avoid being recognized. Despite the change in appearance, Dobie was able to identify the woman before she ran off again.

In his statement to police, Dobie recounted meeting the woman on the beach while manoeuvring his wheelchair. After a friendly conversation, he invited her back to his hotel room. He said that while he was showering, the woman vanished, along with the cash he had left behind.

Pattaya City Police have officially recorded the incident in their daily log and dispatched investigators to gather evidence and search for the suspect. As of this report, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities have urged anyone with information about the incident or the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward.
