Iranian Man Arrested in Pattaya for Posing as Police Officer and Robbing Indian Tourist

Pattaya Tourist Safety and Recent Arrest

Pattaya police arrested an Iranian man for impersonating an officer and robbing an Indian tourist. The arrest strengthened confidence in Pattaya tourist safety and drew attention to common tourist scams in Thailand.

Incident Reported by Indian Tourist

On October 1, an Indian visitor reported to Bang Lamung Police that two men on a motorcycle stopped him near Little Walk on Sukhumvit Road, a busy shopping area in Pattaya. The men claimed to be police officers and searched his belongings. One suspect took 300 US dollars and quickly left.

CCTV Footage Traced Suspects

Investigators reviewed more than 70 CCTV cameras across Pattaya. They discovered the suspects rented a motorcycle in Soi Naklua 16 before committing the crime. CCTV footage showed them riding through South Pattaya Road and Soi Kor Phai, exchanging stolen money in Khao Phra Tamnak, and later visiting a restaurant in Soi Yensabai.

Pattaya Crime News and Tourist Scams

Authorities described the case as serious because the suspect posed as a police officer, which threatens public trust. The incident also reflects wider concerns about tourist scams in Thailand, where fake officers or guides sometimes target visitors.

Police Action Restores Confidence

Bang Lamung Police said the swift investigation and arrest show their commitment to Pattaya tourist safety. The suspect is now in custody at Bang Lamung Police Station and faces legal proceedings.
