Keep Your Hair On: Pattaya Hair Herbal Scam Reported by Indian Tourist

Police in Thailand are investigating a Pattaya hair herbal scam after an Indian tourist reported paying a high price for hair treatment products following a street approach in a popular tourist area.

Background of the Pattaya Hair Herbal Scam
The incident was reported on January 3, 2026, at Pattaya City Police Station. Pattaya is a coastal city east of Bangkok known for beaches, nightlife, and a large expat and tourist population.

The tourist, a 45-year-old Indian national, said the incident began on the evening of January 2 while he walked along Pattaya Second Road. This road runs parallel to the beach and attracts heavy tourist foot traffic. The encounter took place near Soi Marine Plaza, a short side street with bars and small shops.

He told police that four foreign men approached him and started a friendly conversation. They promoted herbal oils and claimed the products treated hair loss. They then guided him to a nearby shop called Thai Natural Herbal.

At the shop, he bought two 200-millilitre bottles of an herbal mixture blended with coconut oil and one 100-millilitre bottle of pure coconut oil. The total price reached 43,400 baht, equal to about 1,250 US dollars.

Police Response to the Pattaya Hair Herbal Scam
After the purchase, the tourist suspected the price far exceeded the normal market value. He later filed a police complaint and provided the products as evidence.

Police accepted the report and began verifying the details. Officers are reviewing shop records and nearby security camera footage to identify and question those involved in the Pattaya hair herbal scam.

Pattern of Similar Hair-Related Scams
Police say the Pattaya hair herbal scam fits a repeated pattern seen in tourist zones. Visitors report being approached by strangers offering hair growth or wellness products with strong claims. These items are often sold at prices far above standard retail levels.

Authorities confirm they have carried out raids against similar operations in past years. Reports continue to surface in busy tourist districts.

Police advise tourists and expats to avoid unsolicited hair or health product offers from strangers. Walk away from pressure sales and check prices before buying. Reporting a Pattaya hair herbal scam helps police protect other visitors and limit repeat offences.
