Nigerian National Arrested in Patong Drug Sting at Hospital Parking Area

A Patong drug sting on November 18 led to the arrest of a Nigerian national in the parking area of Patong Hospital. Officers carried out the operation during the early evening.

Police Launch Patong Drug Sting Operation
Officers began the controlled operation at 6.55 p.m. Colonel Chalermchai Hirasawat supervised the team. Lieutenant Colonel Suchart Chumphusang and Lieutenant Colonel Saran Chaiwut led the investigators.

Police arranged a controlled purchase worth 6,000 baht. Baht is Thailand’s national currency. Undercover officers met the suspect in the hospital parking area. The suspect delivered two plastic bags with about 1.10 grams of cocaine. Officers detained him immediately.

Charges Filed After Patong Drug Sting
Police charged the suspect with distribution of a Category 2 narcotic without a licence. Thai law places cocaine in this category. Officers did not release his name. Police took him and the seized drugs to Patong Police Station for processing.

Patong Drug Sting Linked to Wider Crackdown
Local media reported the case. Police described an ongoing effort to reduce narcotics activity in nightlife zones. Patong is a major tourist district on Phuket Island with steady foot traffic. Officers run targeted operations in these areas to limit illegal drug sales.

Police advised visitors and residents to report suspicious behavior. Officers reminded foreign nationals of strict Thai drug laws. Offenders face long prison terms and large fines.
