A Pattaya beach assault left a 55-year-old German tourist robbed and beaten early on Feb. 24, 2026. The attack happened on Pattaya Beach Road near Soi 13. Witnesses recorded the assault and shared it online, raising concerns about tourist safety.

The victim, Markus Santl, reported the crime at 02.30. He told police he met one of the suspects on the beach earlier that night and later returned to his condominium in the Soi Diana area.

Theft inside condominium linked to beach assault

Santl said one suspect opened his safe and stole cash while he was in the bathroom. After discovering the theft, he chased the suspect and found the group again near the beach. He demanded his money back.

Several suspects then surrounded him and assaulted him. They kicked and punched him in front of tourists. Video of the Pattaya beach assault spread fast across social media.

Police respond fast to Pattaya beach assault

Police, Tourist Police, and Immigration officers launched a joint operation. By 16.39 the same day, officers arrested four suspects identified as Phimmada Thanaree, Kawalin Sukmuang, Mavin Plabplueng, and Worawit Phosawang.

Investigators said the victim first met two suspects shortly after midnight before the theft. The group later claimed they believed their friend was under attack and joined the assault.

Cash recovered after investigation

Police recovered 19,500 baht and returned it to the victim. One suspect confessed to stealing 31,400 baht and dividing the money. He admitted he spent part of it on baccarat gambling and apologised.

Two suspects face charges of joint nighttime theft in a residence and receiving stolen property. Others remain under investigation for assault.

Victim praises response after Pattaya beach assault

Santl thanked Thai police for their fast action. Officers arrested the suspects in less than one day. He confirmed he will return to Thailand in December and plans to thank the officers in person.
