Pattaya clash: Indian tourist injured in fight with transgender sex worker

A late-night Pattaya clash on Beach Road left an Indian tourist injured after a violent dispute with a transgender sex worker in the city’s busy nightlife district.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. on September 5 along Pattaya Beach Road in Chon Buri province, an area popular with both tourists and locals for its nightlife. The victim, identified as 25-year-old Suresh from India, filed a complaint at Pattaya City Police Station after suffering a bleeding head wound.

According to police, the conflict began when Suresh discussed service prices with a 29-year-old transgender woman. She quoted 1,000 baht for a short encounter and 4,000 baht for an overnight stay. The tourist agreed to the overnight price but allegedly tried to verify her gender by touching her inappropriately.

The situation escalated when the sex worker admitted to striking Suresh two to three times with a high-heeled shoe. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with late-night crowds gathering along the beachfront strip, a hotspot of Pattaya nightlife.

Both parties were initially taken to Pattaya City Police Station for questioning. However, police reported that the suspect escaped after asking to use the restroom. Police Lieutenant Colonel Wuttinan Kongdee confirmed that a summons will be issued for the suspect to face assault charges.

Authorities urged the suspect to surrender voluntarily. Police also reminded visitors that while disputes between tourists and sex workers are not uncommon in Pattaya, such incidents rarely escalate to violence.

This Pattaya tourist incident follows another recent case involving Indian nationals, where two transgender women were accused of stealing 41,000 baht in foreign currency.
