Pattaya Condo Attack: British Man Slashed by Trans Escort Gang

PATTAYA, Thailand — A violent Pattaya condo attack left a 65-year-old British man seriously injured early Friday morning after four transgender escorts allegedly slashed him during a dispute over payment for services.

Police Lieutenant Manasak Phonliam of Pattaya City Police Station said the attack occurred around 12:30 a.m. on September 12 at a high-rise condo in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, a popular residential area for both Thais and foreigners. Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation treated the victim at the scene before rushing him to a local hospital.

The man, identified as Duncan Hamish Kirkwood, suffered a deep head wound. Police say Kirkwood told them he had arranged to meet two women at his apartment, but four transgender women arrived instead. When he refused their services, they allegedly demanded 10,000 baht each — a total of 40,000 baht (approximately USD 1,100).

When Kirkwood declined to pay, an argument reportedly escalated into violence. One of the attackers allegedly slashed him with a knife, leaving him bleeding heavily. Kirkwood managed to escape and alert building security, but the suspects fled before police arrived.

Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the condominium to identify the suspects. Lieutenant Manasak stated that Kirkwood will be questioned again once his condition improves and expressed confidence that the attackers will be caught soon.

This attack follows a similar incident on September 5, when a 25-year-old Indian Tourist was struck on the head with a high-heeled shoe by a transgender sex worker during a dispute on Pattaya Beach at around 3 a.m.

Pattaya is well known for its nightlife and entertainment industry, which includes a large community of transgender sex workers. Authorities advise tourists and expats to agree clearly on the price of any services in advance and to exercise caution when inviting strangers into private accommodation.

Police are urging anyone with information about the suspects to contact Pattaya City Police Station.
