Phuket Airport Cocaine Arrest Involving French National

The Phuket Airport cocaine arrest occurred after a French national dropped drugs from his clothing during a security screening, according to police.

The incident occurred at 3.10 p.m. on 5 February in the domestic departure area. Airport security staff found small plastic bags containing white powder on the floor near the baggage screening point and alerted police.

Officers identified the suspect as Mr Najib, 46, a French citizen. A search confirmed the substance was cocaine, classified as a Category 2 narcotic under Thai law. Police seized 10 plastic bags with a total weight of 7.55 grams.

CCTV footage showed the drugs fell from the suspect’s trousers. During questioning, he admitted the cocaine belonged to him. He also told police athat dditional narcotics were stored at his accommodation in Wichit Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phuket.

Expanded Search After Phuket Airport Cocaine Arrest

Police escorted the suspect to the room, where they found more illegal drugs. Officers seized 13 plastic bags of pink powder ecstasy weighing 6.79 grams and nine bags containing 44 pink ecstasy tablets. Ecstasy is classified as a Category 1 narcotic.

Charges Filed Following Arrest

Police charged the suspect with possession of Category 2 narcotics with intent to sell, possession of Category 1 narcotics with intent to sell, use of methamphetamine, and use of ketamine, all in violation of Thai law.

The suspect and seized evidence were transferred to investigators for further legal proceedings.
