A British businessman was found stabbed to death inside a luxury home in Pattaya on Wednesday, with police detaining his 21 year old British wife for questioning after discovering what investigators described as several suspicious circumstances at the scene.

Police from Nong Prue Police Station responded to reports of a fatal stabbing at a house in Bang Lamung district, Chonburi province. Officers were joined by forensic investigators, Pattaya Tourist Police, emergency medical personnel, and rescue workers.
Inside the property’s bathroom, officers found the body of 34 year old Thomas David, a British national who operated a cannabis farm in the Bang Lamung area. He had suffered a single stab wound beneath the left side of his chest.
Investigators said the body had been carefully arranged on a bedsheet with a pillow placed beneath his head and a grey towel covering him. A large amount of blood surrounded the body, and police estimated he had been dead for at least six hours before he was discovered.
Police found bloodstains throughout the house, many of which had already begun to dry, along with signs of a struggle in several rooms.
The victim’s wife, 21 year old Isabelle Violet, was found sitting beside her husband’s body when officers arrived. Police said she appeared heavily intoxicated and displayed behaviour consistent with cannabis impairment, although no official toxicology results have been released.

According to investigators, she had a cut on one finger and repeatedly claimed her husband had stabbed himself. She also told officers she suffered from depression and severe panic attacks.
Police were shown a large machete style knife, approximately 50 centimetres long, in the kitchen sink. Officers said the blade appeared to have been thoroughly cleaned of blood.

The victim’s friend, Charlie, 33, also from the United Kingdom, told police he was the first person to discover the body.
He said a business partner based in the United States, who jointly operated a cannabis business with the victim, contacted him earlier that morning expressing concern and urging him to visit the house immediately.
When he arrived, he recorded video footage as he entered the property. He noticed bloodstains throughout the living area before finding Thomas’s body in the bathroom. Isabelle was sitting beside the body and repeatedly claimed her husband had injured himself.
Charlie immediately contacted police and later told investigators he was devastated by what he had witnessed.
Neighbours told police the couple had moved into the rented luxury home only two weeks earlier. They reportedly rented the property for 85,000 baht per month.
Residents said they frequently heard loud arguments coming from the house. On Tuesday night, at around 10.00pm, neighbours heard dogs barking continuously but did not investigate. At around 2.00am, someone attempted to deliver dog food, but nobody answered the door.
The following morning, the victim’s friend arrived at the property and later discovered the body.
Police have taken Isabelle Violet in for detailed questioning while forensic officers continue collecting evidence, including fingerprint and DNA samples. Investigators said they do not currently accept her account at face value and are examining several inconsistencies.
Among the questions investigators hope to answer are why emergency services were not contacted immediately if the injuries were self inflicted, and why the victim’s body appeared to have been moved into the bathroom. Officers said blood patterns suggest the body was dragged before being placed where it was found.
Police are also reviewing CCTV footage from the property as part of the ongoing investigation.
Separately, some local residents speculated about five black Buddha statues positioned outside the house, suggesting they were a bad omen. However, there is no evidence linking the statues to the crime, and investigators have not indicated they have any relevance to the case.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no formal charges had been announced at the time of publication.
