Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) Cracks Down on Soi Cowboy to Prevent Human Trafficking

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), through the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATP), conducted an operation in Soi Cowboy, located in the Wattana District of Bangkok on Monday evening. The objective was to carry out preventive public relations efforts and raise awareness among entertainment venue operators about the risks and legal consequences of human trafficking. The operation emphasised the following key prohibitions:

  • Minors under the age of 18 are strictly prohibited from working in entertainment venues, as this constitutes sexual exploitation of children.

  • Individuals under the age of 20 are not allowed to use the services of entertainment venues.

  • Weapons and narcotics must not be brought into entertainment establishments.

  • Vigilance is required to prevent the illegal sale of nitrous oxide (laughing gas), especially among tourists.

This proactive operation aims to promote awareness, monitoring, and law enforcement in tourist areas that are considered high-risk. It also seeks to elevate the safety and standards of entertainment venues to prevent them from becoming channels for unlawful exploitation.

The operation was conducted under the direction of Police Lieutenant General Jiraphop Phuridej, Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau; Police Major General Songsak Kirkkritaya, Commander of the ATP Division; and Acting Police Colonel Korkiat Wutthichamnong, Superintendent of Sub-Division 1, ATP. The officers involved included personnel from Sub-Division 1 of the ATP, along with Tourist Police, Immigration Police, and officers from Thonglor Police Station.
