PATTAYA, Thailand – A series of violent incidents outside an Indian restaurant in South Pattaya has left the business facing serious property damage and financial losses, prompting the owner to seek police intervention and public cooperation.

The initial disturbance occurred in the early hours of July 15, 2025, at India Green Cherry Restaurant, located near Soi 16 in the bustling South Pattaya area. According to Ms. Tiyaporn Saengchan, the 34-year-old owner, the trouble began when an argument between an unidentified Uzbek woman and an Indian man escalated outside the restaurant.

A group of approximately 20 motorbike delivery riders, reportedly affiliated with Bolt—a popular ride-hailing and food delivery app in Thailand—mistakenly believed the man was assaulting the woman. They crossed the street and attacked the man, triggering a chaotic scene. Several bystanders were reportedly injured, and the restaurant sustained property damage during the incident.

Amid the confusion, multiple patrons fled the restaurant without paying their bills. Ms. Tiyaporn estimates the total unpaid amount to be over 5,000 baht (approximately US$135). She has since filed a formal complaint with Lt. Col. Sai Jai Khamjulla of the Pattaya City Police and submitted CCTV footage as evidence. As of July 19, no suspects have been apprehended.

Further disturbances occurred at the same location just four days later. At 1:36 a.m. on July 19, two separate altercations broke out. The first involved a misunderstanding between intoxicated foreign tourists, which police managed to deescalate. However, after officers left the scene, a second fight erupted—this time involving a group of Indian tourists—causing additional disruption.

Ms. Tiyaporn is now calling on authorities to pursue those responsible for the initial July 15 incident and to seek compensation for damages and unpaid bills. She also appealed to any customers who left the restaurant without paying, asking them to return and settle their accounts voluntarily to avoid possible legal consequences.

Pattaya, a popular beach resort city known for its vibrant nightlife and international tourism, often draws large crowds to its restaurants and entertainment venues. However, local businesses occasionally face challenges when disputes among visitors spiral out of control. Authorities are continuing to investigate the matter.
