Indian Tourist Targeted in Pattaya Necklace Theft, Transgender Woman Arrested

Pattaya police arrested a 27-year-old transgender woman in connection with a Pattaya necklace theft involving an Indian tourist in the early hours of March 26.

The incident took place around 3:00 a.m. near the Baywalk Hotel Pattaya on Pattaya Beach Road, a busy area known for nightlife and tourism activity.

The victim, Mr Bahar Singh Yadav, a 39-year-old visitor from India, reported that a gold necklace worth about 30,000 baht had been stolen.

Tourist police responded quickly. Officers located and detained the suspect, identified as Thitirat, aged 27. A search led to the recovery of the missing necklace. The victim confirmed ownership on the spot.

Police stated that the suspect admitted to the theft during questioning.

Authorities filed formal charges and informed the suspect of legal rights before transferring the case to Pattaya City Police Station for further action.

Officials highlighted the speed of the response and recovery. They said the case reflects ongoing efforts to protect visitors and maintain trust in Pattaya as a tourist destination.

Officials said this Pattaya necklace theft reflects a wider pattern of recent cases involving stolen jewellery from tourists. Police are urging visitors to stay vigilant, avoid displaying valuable items in public, and take extra precautions in busy nightlife areas.
