A Scottish man injured in Pattaya was taken to hospital after his Thai girlfriend allegedly attacked him with a glass and a soda bottle during an argument over another woman, police said. The incident happened at a restaurant in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, during the early hours of 27 August 2026.
Scottish Man Injured in Pattaya Restaurant Attack
Pattaya City Police Station received a report of a fight at around 12:16 a.m. on 27 August. Police officers and rescuers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in Pattaya attended the restaurant following reports of an assault.
Inside the restaurant, officers found the 61-year-old Scottish man sitting at a table with heavy bleeding from a large wound to his head.
Rescuers provided first aid at the scene before taking the injured man to hospital for further treatment.
The restaurant had also suffered damage during the incident, with broken glass reportedly scattered across the floor.
Police identified the woman involved as Ms Prang, a pseudonym used in the police report. She is 49 years old and was reportedly still angry and shouting when officers arrived.
Thai Woman Allegedly Attacks Scottish Boyfriend Over Bar Girl
According to police, Prang told officers the Scottish man was her boyfriend and said they had been in a relationship for approximately four years.
She reportedly told police she had recently discovered he had been secretly communicating with a woman who worked at a bar.
Prang said she confronted her boyfriend and asked him about the relationship. During the argument, the Scottish man allegedly told her, “I love her,” referring to the other woman.
She reportedly told police the statement caused her to lose her temper. Prang then allegedly picked up a glass and a soda bottle and struck her boyfriend several times.
The alleged attack left the Scottish man with a serious head wound, with blood covering his face.
Pattaya Police Investigate Alleged Assault
The incident took place in Nong Prue, an area of Bang Lamung district covering communities on the eastern side of Pattaya and surrounding areas.
Police are investigating the alleged assault and the damage caused to the restaurant. The officers will proceed in accordance with Thai law.
People commonly use the term ‘bar girl’ to describe women who work in Thailand’s nightlife and entertainment industry, especially in Pattaya. The term covers a range of roles and does not by itself establish the nature of any personal relationship.
The police have not tested the allegations in court. Any charges and subsequent legal proceedings will depend on the evidence gathered during the investigation.
