Five Indian tourists have reported an alleged theft in Pattaya after claiming ฿24,000 in cash disappeared following encounters with five Thai women at a five-star hotel in North Pattaya.
The tourists reported the incident to Pattaya City Police on September 14, after allegedly meeting the women on Pattaya Beach the previous night.
Indian tourists report missing cash in Pattaya
According to Khaosod, the five Indian men were part of a group of more than 200 tourists visiting Pattaya and Koh Larn.
An Indian tour guide, identified as Bom, 37, said he found the five men sitting together and crying during the group trip to Koh Larn on September 14.
The men reportedly told him they had no money left to buy food or souvenirs before their scheduled departure from Thailand on September 15.
Other members of the tour group reportedly helped them with food and drinks before they explained what had happened.
The five tourists alleged they had met five Thai women and agreed to pay for sexual services before returning to a five-star hotel in the North Pattaya area.
According to their complaints, each man went to a room with one of the women.
Afterwards, they discovered cash was missing from their belongings.
The tourists reported individual losses of ฿3,000, ฿5,000 and ฿7,000, with the total alleged loss reaching ฿24,000.
Tourists allege confrontation at hotel
One of the tourists told police through the tour guide that he first met a Thai woman on Pattaya Beach on the night of September 13.
He said his Indian friends became interested after the pair returned to the hotel, and the woman contacted friends who later arrived.
The tourists alleged the five women then went with the five men to separate rooms.
After the encounters, the men reportedly realised their Thai currency was missing. They said some of the cash had been exchanged specifically to buy souvenirs before returning home.
According to their account, some of the tourists confronted the women after noticing the missing money.
The men alleged they were assaulted and threatened during the confrontation. They also claimed the women demanded additional money.
A dispute reportedly followed, with hotel staff intervening before the women left the property.
Photos handed to Pattaya police
The tourists reportedly managed to take photographs of some of the women who visited the hotel that night.
They handed the photographs to Pattaya police as potential evidence.
Police received the complaints at around 7pm on September 14.
At the time of reporting, the allegations had not been established as fact and the case remained under investigation. Channel 7 also reported the incident, including the alleged ฿24,000 loss.
The case comes as Pattaya continues to attract large numbers of international tourists, with incidents involving visitors and local residents frequently receiving attention on social media.
For now, the five Indian tourists have provided their account to police, along with photographs they say could help identify the women involved.
